Trad Harmony Singing

Come one, come all! In this workshop we will learn the classic Bluegrass/Old-time 3 part harmony stack - we’ll help you train your ears to hear the tenor and baritone parts so you can jump in on any jam or performance. We will learn an old traditional song or two and take turns singing each part. All levels welcome!

Oldtime fiddle

We’ll teach in the classic 'call and response' style so bring your fiddle and your ears! We’ll learn a tune and all the bowing tricks and tips

*OT fiddle can be beginner, intermediate or advanced depending on what the festival wants, we can adjust the description as need be*

Clawhammer Banjo

For beginner to intermediate clawhammer players - we will learn a tune or two and dip our toes into the world of drop thumbs, pull-offs and drones. We’ll talk about the role of a banjo player in a jam or band and explore my classic “less is more” attitude in regards to picking how many notes to play. Come build confidence and competence in a friendly, banjo positive environment!

Old time groove machine workshop

Come join our oldtime ensemble - we'll play some tunes all together and talk about how to lock in, what to watch for, how to follow, finding the pocket and a place in the jam even if you don't know the tune. All levels welcome!
