Claw hammer banjo with Barry Southern (intermediate to advanced)

Take the bum-ditty to the next level. In this workshop we will focus on right-hand technique, rhythm and groove. Barry will teach a couple of fun tunes and talk about some ways to spice up your playing with rhythmic devices when accompanying a fiddle player.

Harmony Singing with Gabrielle Macrae and Barry Southern

In this workshop we’ll work on learning to find the second and third harmony parts. We’ll learn the melody of a song and then add layers of harmony, while training your ear to find where they are.  We’ll take turns singing each part and give you some tools for finding your lane. We’ll end up singing all three parts of the song together.

Old Time Fiddle with Gabrielle Macrae (beginning to advanced)

Gabrielle will teach an old time fiddle workshop with an emphasis on bowing patterns and technique. Come learn a new tune from her repertoire and find some ways to add syncopation and groove to your playing. We’ll cover some of the basics of old time bowing and add a new tune to your repertoire. 

Three-finger banjo with Barry Southern (beginning-intermediate)

Learn some of the basics of three-finger banjo. In this workshop we will learn some rolls, fills, melody, and chords, and talk about when and how to use them. Gain confidence and skills for backing up a fiddle tune, a song, or taking a solo.
